Attorney Melissa M. Kirby

Melissa M. Kirby has over 18 years of jury trial experience.  Formerly an Assistant United States Attorney, she worked with many agencies to prosecute federal crimes, such as immigration violations, drug trafficking, breaches of national security, offenses within the national parks and forests, and other crimes.  Prior to working as a federal prosecutor, Melissa Kirby was a senior attorney at the National District Attorney's Association (NDAA) in the Washington, D.C. area.  At NDAA, she worked to help agencies protect children from exploitation and abuse.  Kirby was a state prosecutor in South Carolina for many years, as well.  She has made guest appearances on Court TV and has also been invited to speak on various legal and ethical issues for NDAA, the national parks service, and several local law enforcement agencies. 

 

As a former prosecutor, Attorney Kirby has in-depth knowledge of the criminal justice system.  Additionally, she is compassionate toward those experiencing the difficulties of juvenile dependency issues or juvenile justice prosecutions.  The Kirby Law Firm strives to provide the highest quality of legal representation in every                          within Northwest Georgia.  Kirby's training and experience has prepared her to effectively and zealously advocate for the best interests of her clients. 

 

Attorney Kirby has been admitted to practice law in Georgia, South Carolina, Washington, D.C., and the federal courts in the Eastern District of Tennessee.  Kirby attended law school at the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University and undergraduate school at Georgia Southern University.  She attended Lafayette High School and grew up in Rock Spring, Georgia, where she still enjoys spending time with her family.
